ARTIST STATEMENT
What do the flowers mean in the space they occupy? Why do they stop us short and call us to a halt with their soundless last syllable? Is it their resolute sense of self, their undiluted wholeness? Maybe instead, it is their sense of imminence. Maybe it is about colour – Blue: gentian, cobalt, peacock, lapis lazuri or sky; Red: vermilion, carmine, garnet, blood; Yellow: sun, honey, butter, lemon; Green: peridot, parakeet, water, acid, emerald, lime.
They are the primary things. They are a beginning pint, the springboard for a metaphor, and the objects to which other things are linked. May be they are a dance and a sway, a harmony and an equilibrium, a surprise and a splendor; or a cool touch to a fever, a bulb and a trumpet, spikes and velvet, a surcease and a thrust, a pulse and a throb. Think of nettles and roses, stamens, pistils and swords, pods and pulp, nectar and scent, poppy and yield, balm and beauty and hosanna.

Andrzej Pluta was born in Poland and now lives in Canada. Pluta is a fine art photographer with over 27 years of an international experience. He left Poland, his home country in 1970 because of a political turmoil. Through the experimentation the artist has developed his own unique photography style. Each series of produced artwork brings the imaginative abstractions, varied colour palettes, using the unusual camera techniques. Pluta’s artwork is created by using Sinar 8×10 inche camera. For some compositions Carl Zeiss Mirotar lens (one of the world’s rarest) is used on Sinar 8×10, making it the only camera construction of its kind. Using unconventional and a complex lighting technique, the full frame image is exposed on 8×10 Fuji chrome film. All prints are archival Chromogenic Metallica C- prints. There is no darkroom or computer work used and no retouching of the original colour transparency.
